Sarah + Ben: Rustic barn in the Surrey Hills
Sarah & Ben are one of those couples everyone loves to be around, they’re outgoing, funny and know how to throw a serious party. So when they came to me asking for support in planning their wedding in Surrey, I knew the day had to reflect that and I loved every second of working with these guys to make it happen!
As a modern couple, they were keen that the focus wasn’t on any of the standard traditions, they wanted their wedding day to feel laid-back, romantic and for fun to be top of the agenda.
Gildings Barn in Surrey met the venue brief perfectly – it was close enough to their home in Reading and for guests travelling from London, and provided a gorgeous blank canvas to style as they wanted.
With a laid-back and contemporary green & white colour palette featuring across their wedding stationary, the stunning floral designs from Victoria at VTB Flowers tied in perfectly on the day. Sarah’s bouquet was a modern brides dream, with eucalyptus infused with scented O Hara roses and delicate sweet peas to create the most swoon-worthy spring bouquet.
Some couples worry that hiring a wedding planner means relinquishing all control. This wedding is proof that that’s simply not the case. Sarah & Ben were clear that they wanted to inject as much of their personality as possible in their day, so we worked closely together on the logistics and details to make sure it felt perfectly ‘them’. I was particularly impressed with the time, effort and presumably drunken nights that they dedicated to all those empty gin bottles.. that’s my kinda couple!
Receiving these pictures back from Dan of Story & Colour was so special. I knew he would have captured the day beautifully, but have you ever seen a happier couple on their wedding day?! Weddings like this remind me exactly why I chose to become a wedding planner.
